“ENOUGH!”

Sen. Barack Obama, 8/28/08

Although this is not the ticket I dreamed about, Sen. Barack Obama won me over convincingly last night with a brilliant, inspiring and uplifting acceptance speech. It gave me chills.
He showed empathy for Americans whose lives have been upturned by the Bush/Cheney massacre, he showed that he will carry on Hillary Clinton’s goals for universal health care and make it a priority, and he looked like a statesman staring steely faced at the GOP and said I know what you’re going to lob at me so bring it on — your shameful record these past eight years speaks volumes.
Writing in Hillary’s name on Nov. 4, while it would give me some solace, will not guarantee that the GOP is overturned in what might be a race as close as 2000 or 2004 (God forbid). We simply cannot afford more years of the same! I truly fear it will break America apart.
When Sen. Obama said that one word, “Enough!”, it was enough for me to embrace his audacity of hope.
This will be my last post in this blog. Hillary, I am and will continue to be so very proud of you. The class you showed this week, plus your record of service, will continue to inspire. We’ll bust open that damn glass ceiling soon enough!

 Go Obama, go!

Traitors & Scalawags

According to an ABC blog post by George Stephanopoulos, the roll call vote for Hillary Clinton may be nixed. There are concerns that it might be disruptive to the process of the coronation (so OK, I added that last dramatic touch). Boo-hoo!
Pluhease! Why should she care what those traitors and scalawags think of her. Want me to name them? Here are a few: Bill Richardson, Donna Brazile, Nancy Pelosi and Patti Solis Doyle. The Democratic Party is being run by twits! Why aren’t people incensed that they STOLE VOTES FROM HILLARY TO GIVE TO OBAMA, votes that she rightfully won on her own. Disgusting!
Sorry, but “Joebama” will falter on their own, without the symbolic gesture at the convention.
Hillary, dump the DNC and go it on your own!

Don’t hold your breath…

As the world waits to hear who Sen. Barack Obama has chosen for his running mate, Politico.com is reporting that Sen. Hillary Clinton was never vetted as a candidate.
If she were to receive his call, this might give a new meaning to his comment “You’re good enough” during the debates.

Safe to vote for what they believe in their hearts

A very interesting take on the Democratic National Convention roll call is offered at Politico.com in their interview with Rep. Loretta Sanchez of Orange County, Calif. According to the report, Sanchez said:

”I believe there are a lot of supporters for Hillary among the superdelegates, especially now that they’ve agreed to place her name in nomination. I think half the House Democrats would probably be Hillary supporters, especially women. … I felt she was the most experienced and the best candidate and I still feel that way.”

Humorless?

Today’s musings:

  • CNN’s Jack Cafferty called The Denver Group “humorless” after they took out a full-page ad “demanding” that Sen. Clinton’s name be placed in nomination and “demanding” that speeches supporting her be allowed at the convention in Denver. But wait, it gets better. Cafferty writes:

“They say their effort is about respect. Baloney. In their heart of hearts, what they really want is to wrestle the nomination away from Barack Obama. They won’t be able to do it, but in the process of trying, they can go a long way toward diminishing the historic nature of Obama’s achievement, disrupting the convention, taking the spotlight away from the nominee, and slowing his momentum going into November. Is this what they call party unity?”

So now, because we believe another candidate is far more qualified to represent the party in November, we’re being accused of “diminishing the historic nature of Obama’s achievement.” What about the historic nature of Hillary’s achievement, Jack? And if the DNC is all about unity, how do they get away with stealing votes Hillary earned and donating them to Obama’s cause? Where is the media uproar about that Saturday afternoon massacre?

  • BetUS.com has released its current odds for vice presidential candidate: Hillary Clinton 8/1; Bill Richardson 10/1; Ted Strickland 50/1; Kathleen Sebelius 7/1; Evan Bayh 7/5; Wesley Clark 15/1; Joseph Biden 13/2; Christopher Dodd 8/1; Jim Webb 40/1; Michael Bloomberg 45/1; Al Gore 25/1; Mark Warner 25/1; Janet Napolitano 35/1; Ed Rendell 25/1; Sam Nunn 18/1; Tim Kaine 7/5; Brian Schweitzer 30/1
  • So I find it curious that a bunch of Clinton campaign memos have been leaked at this time. Convenient way to badmouth her even further in the media, eh? The analysts say they show she is indecisive. If I were in the Obama camp, I’d sure love that message to get out now when the VP selection is about to be announced. And when a woman isn’t chosen, they can say, see how indecisive she was. I dunno, the fact that she didn’t go with the un-American nonsense her strategist Mark Penn urged her to use against Obama shows me she’s very capable of making good decisions.

Diehards? You bet

A link on the Drudge Report offered this interesting news story from Breitbart:
“Diehard Hillary Clinton backers stepped up a campaign Wednesday to get their heroine onto the nominating ballot alongside White House hopeful Barack Obama at this month’s Democratic convention.
The group Colorado Women Count/Women Vote said it would hold a pro-Clinton parade in Denver on August 26, the second day of the convention when the New York senator is rumored to be given a prime-time speaking slot.
The date is also the 88th anniversary of female suffrage in the United States, and the group said it would press home its demand for Clinton supporters to have a chance to vote for her on the first ballot with Obama.
Even if she has no chance of winning, given Obama’s overall lead in the delegate count, such a vote would mark a symbolic confirmation of the nearly 18 million primary votes won by Clinton during her battle for the nomination.
But other pro-Clinton groups such as PUMA (Party Unity My Ass) claim that she could still win the nomination if enough Obama delegates can be persuaded to switch sides at the Denver convention, and are lobbying to that end.
‘That is not going to happen!’ Clinton told a group of female supporters a week ago, while appearing to back the efforts to get her name on the first ballot as a cathartic exercise for the sake of Democratic unity.”
