Divided, we win…

Note this passage in a story in the LA Times today, “Clinton asks her fans to unite for Obama”:

     “‘We started on two separate paths, but we’re on one journey now,’ Clinton told a few hundred supporters as an Obama banner behind her touted, ‘Change We Can Believe In.’
     “McCain and President Bush, Clinton said, are ‘like two sides of the same coin, and that doesn’t amount to a whole lot of change.’
     “Clinton’s 20-minute speech capped a week of acrimony over the role her supporters will play at this month’s Democratic National Convention, where both the New York senator and her husband, former President Clinton, are scheduled to speak.
     “Sen. Clinton suggested in a video posted on YouTube that letting her backers cheer for her might prove ‘cathartic,’ though some worry that it will showcase a Democratic Party divided.”

Well, d’oh! It is divided. I think this is going to be quite a convention…

Another one bites the dust

You’ve heard of the world’s oldest profession… Well former Sen. John Edwards’ disclosure yesterday was an example of the world’s oldest “mistake.” Pluhease! 
     Just once I’d love to hear a politician straight talk by saying ”I was a real jerk, a total idiot, I don’t deserve your trust or my spouse’s. I choose not to control my ego. I’ve got a whole lot of hubris.”
     To understand the depth of pain a spouse feels in these situations, just consider what Elizabeth Edwards said about her husband’s affair with the video chippy. She said “we began a long and painful process in 2006, a process oddly made somewhat easier with my diagnosis in March of 2007.”
     Learning her incurable breast cancer had returned made this news “somewhat easier“?. Says it all, right?
